ICSE 2020
The 42nd International Conference on Software Engineering
June 24, 2020 – July 16, 2020
ICSE, the International Conference on Software Engineering, is the premier software engineering conference, providing a forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, research, experiences, trends and concerns in the field of Software engineering.
ICSE 2020 was originally scheduled to be held in Seoul, South Korea, at the Dragon City Hotel complex, in May of 2020. Unfortunately, for ICSE and for the world, COVID-19 surfaced in China toward the end of 2019, found its way to Korea and Italy in February of 2020, and began to proliferate in those countries quickly. Hoping that, like some coronaviruses in the past, the outbreak might subside in the summer, on March 5, 2020, we rescheduled the conference for October of 2020, with hopes of holding it in the same location. Sadly, in the two months following that decision, it became clear that the outbreak was indeed a world-wide pandemic, that was unlikely to abate in time to prepare for and hold an in-person conference in October. Thus, on May 5, 2020, we announced that the conference would be held fully virtually from July 6 – July 11, 2020, with Workshops and Co-Located Events occurring in the weeks prior to and after that.
Ultimately, over 1450 people registered for the main ICSE 2020 conference, and over 1900 people overall registered for one or more ICSE event. These are record attendance numbers. We thank all of you who participated in the event for helping to make it a success.
We also wish to thank all of the persons who made ICSE 2020, and Virtual ICSE 2020, possible, and contributed enormous amounts of their time and energy to its success. Their names are preserved and their roles are acknowledged on these web pages.
We hope to see you in Seoul, at some year in the future.
